- eBay - Electric Components
EEVBlog forums, Melbourne recomented stores
Some more breadboards.- Solid State Relay (DC?). Probably don't need DC with mosfets...
- IR2110 - Mosfet Driver (also IR2113).
- PicKit (and maybe some PICs unless i ordered them?, Bigclivedotcome (or julien liet?) did a comparison of the types, one does ADC, then next does PWM) - NOTE I have some PICs, although probably not the ones with ADC/PWM... Might not need a pickit with FTTDI/Arduino...
Polypropylene Safety Plastic Film Capacitor Kit- nRF24L01
Jumpers [foosoo] - 100x blue- Digital Potentiometer - foosoo
- i2c bus. (Bus? Is this a thing?).
- Flipflops. - Have some 7400 series ones on order (Not D-Flipflops though).
- Zener diodes. - Have some SMD ones. Apparently voltage regulators of some kind are a better choice now.
SMD Diodes.- Have M7 (rectifier) and S14 (Schottky) and some various Zeners.- LM337 - Negative adjustable voltage regulator.
Stripboard/Veroboard - 5 for $5, just basic vertical augburger has various types- OpAmps -
LM358Have heaps of LM358's. (I have 4 LM386's, not sure if they are opamps...), also look at NE5534. Maybe get a newer one than LM358. lm324 Seem cheap, quad opamps. TL08X apparently good... Datasheet on family. PC817 also mentioned.foosoo's lm358 - Useful ICs, Again
- PL9823 (RGB LED with WS1012 protocol...) - Have 100 5050 SMD ones with WS1012 on order. Probably don't need though hole ones (plus they are more expensive).
- Timers 7555/556 - ICM7555
Breakout Board DACHave one on order. Plus 5 other types.ESP-12 Breakout Boards x2
Nicromium Wire, Kanthal Wire is apparently better - Ordered some Nicromium which is cheaper and good enough for reprap hotends. Kanthal would be needed for a smelting furnace...DIY Oscilloscope DSO138 (preassembled with case for $30) - http://www.banggood.com/search/dso138.html + USB TTL (Or make an Arduino/soundcard one).- DC-DC stepdown powersupply $7

Cleaning[edit | edit source]
- Isopropyl alcohol is commonly used for the task, and is inexpensive. You can also increase it's cleaning capacity by adding small amounts of either xylene or acetone if necessary (always test in a small, inconspicuous spot to see if it's going to remove the solder mask or legend).
- You can also substitute ethanol, methanol, or denatured alcohol for isopropyl alcohol (may also be called IPA or isopropanol).

Solder[edit | edit source]
Should have gone with this store... :( - Or was it fucking fake???
Element14 - DURATOOL SOLDER WIRE, 63/37, 183DEG C 226.796g - 0.64mm/0.025"- $31.44 + shipping (free on orders over $45, Actually seems like shipping might be free anyway...)
- Element14 Don't have the correct Multicore :(. They do have some 60/40. They also don't specify the flux type, although they have the id numbers sometimes.. Apparently Multicore 511 doesn't need cleaning.
- Element14 *Don't have any 63/37 for 250g* :(
- Element 14 have this unlisted one according to this it seems ok, although MM00981 seems to be a datasheet, not solder type. Links to an *old* datasheet. - $45
Digikey MultiCore C502 227g, 3% flux, 63/37, 0.015"/0.39mm - $25.01 + $35 shipping...
KESTER 24-6337-0027 WIRE SOLDER .031 RA ROSIN SN63 PB37 66 FLUX 44 CORE 1 lb NEW $22.36+22.14 shipping.
110 GRAM REEL OF HIGH QUALITY 0.7mm LEADED MULTICORE SOLDER - $8.72 + $5.24 shipping.
Loctite 60/40 C511 5C 0.46mm 0.25kg $27+$11
Multicore X39 60/40 No Clean Solder Wire, 0.56mm, 0.25kg $26+$11 - According to Digikey Loctite is the new name...
Multicore Size 10 Reel Alloy Solder O.7mm Diameter 60/40 0.7mm - $27.00 (free shipping?)
Multicore SOLDER wire 250g 0.7mm - 60/40 ERSIN 309???- $28
- Some guys are on a forum are recommending .015 (or ~0.025, 0.28 - 0.71mm).
- Carlsons Lab recommends .032 for through hole (some SMD, 0603,0805, 1206, middle of the road. At 0402 just use iron tip with external flux (so size doesn't matter?), 0.020 as being good for SMD and ok for through hole
- Type R rosin, no activators needs a clean surface. RMA middle, most are no clean. RA (maybe as liquid flux).
- Kester 44=RA, Kester 285=RMA, Stannol also a good brand
- Core size/flux amount in solder wire = 3.3% (sometimes called 66 core or P3)
- EEVBlog MG Chemicals makes good flux and solder IME (on equal footing with Kester, Multicore, AIM, and so on). They don't offer as many variations as other manufacturers though. Even Multicore has cut back on their lead alloy offerings... AIM (American Iron & Metals) or Alpha (Cookson) make some excellent quality products as well, and at least here in the US, tend to be a tad less expensive vs. Kester.
- EEVBlog MG options include RA and no clean flux, stating that cleaning is optional for the RA
- 0.032"/.81mm is a little bit on the thick side
Desolder Wick[edit | edit source]
Flux[edit | edit source]
MG Chemicals 835 MekTronics - $14.04 + $15 shipping. [Upton http://uptonaustralia.com.au/mg-chemicals-liquid-rosin-flux-100ml.html] - $13.09+$15 shipping
Kester 186 -
Digikey Fluxpen - Digikey has basically no flux choices
This flux pen... - $13.10
DIY/homemade Rosin flux with Isopropyl alcohol/glycerine/rosin? - flakes off a resin block / fluxoff comparison
- For paste, Kester RF741 is a modified rosin no-clean that's very nice to use (comes in a syringe). Amtech is supposed to be good as well (also a syringe), but the real stuff is hard to find as their distribution is nearly non-existent (highly counterfeited too).
FWIW, I usually use liquid in a refillable brush pen as it's less expensive and gives me better control than the disposable pens.]
